Last week we featured creative advertising from TDBank Canada and we are happy that a Nigerian bank also found a creative way to give back to the society.
Content marketing is an important part of any company engaging with advertising. It is a subtle and effective way of advertising that can have incredible success on a brand just as much as paid advertising. GTBank is one of the “big guys” in content marketing and they have experienced exceptional customer engagement and loyalty through a well planned and executed content marketing strategy in recent years. Little wonder why they have won the prestigious African Bank of the year for 2years in a row.(2013&2014)
Before selecting my Brilliant ad for the week, i had an herculean task(trust me, it was) of choosing amongst a wide variety of incredible ads both in Nigeria and over-seas. This may or may not qualify as your typical ad but nothing says Brilliant (and rib-cracking funny too) than Ndani TVs’ (powered by GTBank) awareness on the EVD – Ebola Virus Disease(popularly called “Ebola”).
The Ebola Virus which first appeared in 1976 in 2 African countries(Sudan & Congo), The 25th and largest outbreak ever recorded started in 2014 from Guinea and since then Ebola has caused over 1034 deaths in Sierra Leone, Guinea, Liberia and recently in Nigeria.
It’s a no-brainer why this “ad” won my choice for the Brilliant Ads segment this week. It’s relevant, informative and also managed to make me have a good laugh even though it showcases a not-so-funny situation.
In the video, Frank Donga gives advice to a youth on how to detect the symptoms of Ebola and how to keep oneself safe.
